It’s that time of year to deck the halls—or in your case, your retail store. When you’re looking for holiday retail display ideas, you have to consider a lot of different things at once. You want a retail holiday window display idea that is fun, creative, and visually appealing, but also one which showcases your wares and allows window shoppers to peer past them to the interior of your store. Here are a few quick tips to achieve a stunning effect this holiday season!

• There are a lot of different themes you can go with. Depending on what you sell, a holiday theme like Thanksgiving or Christmas might be best. But for other stores, a broader, seasonal theme may be better, like fall or winter. Seasonal themes are also more inclusive than holiday themes, and may be better in more diverse areas.

• Use bright, inviting colors, and try to stick with a simple, bold color scheme. This is a great way to immediately grab attention and also helps to unify your retail window display for the holidays. The holidays and seasons both lend easily to simple color schemes. Warm colors are perfect for autumn and Thanksgiving, and cold colors are great for winter. Green and red of course are ideal for Christmas.

• Post relevant sales information in your window display area. If you’re holding a Black Friday sale, don’t leave customers guessing. Put a Black Friday sale placard directly in your window and show off some of the items you are going to put on sale. Build anticipation by advertising early!

• Try and stick with retail window displays that provide plenty of visibility. While you are showing off your merchandise, you are also trying to show off your store simultaneously. That means you should go with glass retail display cases and other displays that do not occlude the view of your shop through the window. You want to show off a few of your items and then hint at the rest by allowing customers to peek into your store. Your holiday retail display should invite them inside to explore the rest of what you have to offer. You want the window to come across as just the tip of the iceberg.

Use your creativity when you come up with holiday retail window displays, and ask your store employees to offer up suggestions. Odds are you have some creative minds on your staff and a lot of your employees would be happy to help you out. Don’t be afraid to try something a little different. Unusual displays grab attention quickly and stand out from the crowd. Also look for ways to integrate your window displays with the other holiday displays in your store. Build a theme to create a sense of continuity and flow on your retail floor. Lead buyers to the holiday-themed merchandise you are selling, items which you are putting on sale at discount prices, and items you want to promote as perfect holiday gifts. A beautiful holiday window display is just the beginning!
