It’s midsummer, and depending on where you live, it may be one of the best times of the year to get some serious cleaning and organizing done. In some locations, it may be too hot to work outdoors, but in other areas, it may be just perfect. If you have older children home from school, this is also a great time of the year to do some cleaning and organizing because you have some extra pairs of hands to help you out. It’s always wise to do some extra cleaning chores to prepare for the new season too, and fall is just around the corner. Here are some cleaning tasks to consider wrapping up before summer’s over.

• Organize your patio or deck area. During the autumn and winter, it may be too chilly to deal with these areas. This is also of course the perfect time of year to tackle your poolside, if you have one. Large plastic bins are perfect for the pool or patio to hold your supplies.

• Garden or tool shed. These are also parts of your home you will probably feel less inclined to clean and get organized when the colder months set in. Take some time to organize your garden tools and shed with plastic tool storage bins. Garden tool storage bins are ideal for large tools and small, and are an economical solution to your shed organization needs. When your tools are organized, you will find your DIY and gardening projects are a lot easier and more enjoyable to work on.

• Hold a garage sale. This is also the perfect time of year to unload some of that clutter you have around your house on your neighbors, and maybe make a few bucks in the process! You will likely tools you do not need in your shed, and while you are cleaning out other areas of your home you will probably find other things you do not need. Have any seasonal summer items you are unlikely to use again? This is a great time to get rid of them and free up space for fall.

• Get a seasonal storage area set up. Do you have closet storage solutions for all seasons? One great way to reduce clutter in your household is to put away summer clothing and other seasonal items during the rest of the year when they are not needed, and likewise to do the same with winter items during the summer. If you do not have a closet set up with storage for seasonal items, do it now, and you can enjoy a less cluttered home this fall and winter.

Running a well-organized household is a lot of work, and in many ways, the task is never-ending. If you stay on top of things, though, you can maintain a clutter-free environment that is pleasant and low-stress for everyone. If you have not yet tackled the chores above, consider doing them soon instead of waiting for fall!
