It’s hard to believe how quickly summer is coming up! In just a couple of months, the air and the water will be warm and inviting, and if you happen to live on the coast, it will be time to head to the beach. Do you dread juggling all your beach supplies every year? Did you know that one of the simplest and most useful ways to pack all of your beach stuff is with a plastic storage container?

Beach bags are great for things like sunscreen and lotion and goggles, but not so great if you have a lot of other stuff you want to bring along with you. Towels are bulky and quickly can overwhelm you, especially if you want one to sit on and one to use when you get out of the water. Even changes of clothes can be hard to pack into your bag. And what if you have your kids with you? That is a lot of towels and changes of clothes. And what if you want to bring a picnic lunch? That doesn’t fit too easily in a bag, and you don’t want your food to get squashed. You may also have beach balls, buckets, and shovels for sand, and other fun toys for the kids that you want to bring along. Once you are all settled on the sand, you will also need somewhere to store your socks and shoes.

Have something larger that you want to bring along like an umbrella or a tent? While many of these items need to be carried by hand, some of them are collapsible and fit into a large plastic bin without too much trouble. It’s much easier to carry one large plastic storage box than it is to carry all of these items separately as you look for the best place to set down on the sand.

There is another reason to go with a clear plastic bin as well, and that is that plastic bins are excellent for beachside conditions. When you are at the beach, you have all that wind and salty air and bright sunlight, not to mention heat. Those are not conditions you would want to bring a wooden box into, for example. Plastic stands up to the elements and protects whatever is inside your bin. You can seal your plastic storage cube so that it is airtight and protects the contents from moisture as well. If a wave rushes up close to your container, you do not have to worry about the contents getting wet.

Add to that one final benefit, and that is that plastic bins are lightweight. Even a large bin which you have packed a tent into along with other supplies can be easy to lift and carry across the sand if you have two people willing to help out. You are not going to find an easier solution for keeping all of your beach stuff together. Have fun on your family outings this summer!
