Autumn is finally here, and it’s the biggest season in retail as every salesperson knows. In just a couple of months, Black Friday will be here. And many customers start doing their winter holiday shopping as early as this month. Stores that get festive and start getting into the spirit of fall are more likely to catch the attention of buyers. Colorful fall retail window displays will attract shoppers from outside and make them want to step inside your store to see what you have to offer. What can you do to make your autumn retail displays more appealing?

• Use fall colors in your displays, like warm, rich oranges, browns, reds, and golds. These are the colors of falling leaves, and help get buyers into the right mood. There are many creative ways you can get these colors into your retail displays. Colorful hangings and runners can decorate your walls and shelves, and you can temporarily replace retail dump bins with black and orange large plastic bins in Halloween colors.

• Use warm, natural materials like wood to enhance your store displays for fall. One easy way to do this is to incorporate wood basket display racks into your sales floor system. Wood has a warm color tone that fits in nicely with a fall retail color scheme. Fall is often associated with natural materials, and wood is natural. The old-fashioned vibe that wood provides can also help an autumn display. A lot of Thanksgiving décor has this old-fashioned quality, most likely because Thanksgiving has a historical connotation associated with the colonial harvest season.

• Purchase some inexpensive decorative items which evoke the fall spirit. For example, consider buying a cornucopia with plastic or glass fruit and adding it to a fall display for Thanksgiving. You also could consider investing in some silk flower arrangements designed for fall with autumnal colors. Think about buying some gourds at the supermarket. They will often hold together for months before they rot and need to be removed from a display. Autumn wreaths and mobiles representing fall leaves can add even more warmth and color to your fall displays.

Sprucing up your store for autumn may take a little time and thought and creativity, but you will probably find it quite inexpensive. Shoppers will be drawn by the result when they see your fall decorations in the window displays. You can use these displays inside your shop as well to draw buyers in the direction of displays where you are featuring sales or products you are really interested in pushing. You might also use fall decorations to highlight items you are selling which are directly related to autumn holidays like Halloween or Thanksgiving.

Buyers are doing their winter holiday shopping earlier and earlier these days, and are also stocking up on autumn merchandise as promptly as they can. Help them get into the spirit of the holidays, and they will feel more inclined to shop at your store. Have fun getting your store ready for fall!
