• Create seasonal displays. Seasonal motifs are an easy way to grab attention since they are familiar to everyone. They also are easier to create since you can resort to common themes in order to create appropriate displays. Even in climates where the seasons don’t change much, people still expect to see seasonal items. In the fall you can create warm, attractive displays by integrating wall hangings in autumnal colors or adding props like dried heirloom corn and cornucopias. If you sell fall merchandise such as clothing in warm autumn tones, you’ll find these displays draw attention straight to your merchandise. Holiday themes are also easy to merge into your displays.

Gridwall panels, garment racks and other retail displays are just the start of your retail display scheme. These items form the basis for your displays, but it’s how you use those displays and the context you provide for them which will determine how many sales you make. Make your customers feel at home in your shop—as literally as possible. The more comfortable customers feel and the more your shop reminds them of their home environment, the easier they’ll find it to take their time as they shop and to imagine taking the items on your retail displays home with them.
