Have a lot of plastic containers for storage in your house, and not sure what to use them for this fall and winter? Every season, our routines change. That includes what we wear, what we do during the day, and how we relax and unwind when the sun goes down. We also have fall and winter holidays to look forward to and next spring to plan for. Along the way, you will find your plastic bins with handles and lids useful for all kinds of purposes. In Part 1, I shared the following ideas for repurposing plastic bins during autumn:

1. Store your summer clothes.
2. Stow away summer gear and pool toys.
3. Keep hats, gloves, mittens, and scarves tidy in the mud room.

Now I will share four additional ideas.

4. Organize fall yard equipment.

Even though you probably focus most of your gardening efforts during the spring and summer months, autumn is an important time of the year for yard maintenance. So this is a great time to use your plastic bins to sort your lawn equipment.

5. Get your garden shed ready for spring.

While you are at it, it is never too soon to start planning how you are going to tackle your spring gardening projects, and that means it is time to give your shed a makeover. You should consider doing this now instead of waiting until winter since the weather is still pleasant. There are so many different ways you can use plastic containers for gardening. They are great for making planters, for composting, for storing garden tools, and for so much more.

6. Sort crafting equipment.

While you will spend less time outdoors as the weather gets colder (except for participating in your favorite winter sports of course), that means more time to catch up on projects indoors which you may have been neglecting. There is no better time of the year to work on scrapbooking, beading and other craft projects, all of which make great gifts for the holidays. Since you will probably be buying new craft supplies, it is time to repurpose some bins as plastic boxes for crafts.

7. Organize your gift-wrapping station.

Speaking of gifts, do you have your gift-wrapping station organized? If not, you will find that plastic containers come in handy for wrapping paper, bows, unwrapped gifts, and more. Try and get your wrapping station all set up before you head out shopping on Black Friday. This will save you so much time later, making it much easier to get ready for the holidays. You’ll be glad you took the effort when things start getting hectic closer to Christmas!

Now you have a few ideas for how you can make use of your plastic storage totes around the house this autumn. With the changing of the seasons comes a lot of responsibilities in terms of lawn care and getting prepped for the holidays. But with plastic bins on your side, you can handle anything the season throws at you.
