Happy 2018! What are your New Year’s resolutions for organizing this year? Do you plan to tidy up the den or the garage, re-organize the kitchen, or finally take care of that clutter in your bedroom closet? Whatever your plans, one thing you should consider doing is taking a close look at how you are using plastic storage totes throughout your house. In fact, here are 6 plastic bin resolutions for the New Year to get you started.

1. Evaluate your current bin setup.

There are so many uses for plastic bins, but are you making the best use of yours? While plastic organizing containers can be used to reduce clutter and streamline the efficient use of space in your home, they also can add clutter to your home if you are not using them in an effective manner.

So resolve this year to check out your plastic bin setup. Make sure that your bins are actually reducing the clutter in your household rather than adding to it. What if your bin setup is not efficient? We’ll get to that shortly.

2. Give your plastic bins a thorough cleaning.

One thing a lot of people forget about plastic containers is that they can get dirty over years of use, especially if they are somewhere dusty like the attic, basement or garden shed. This year, plan on scrubbing down all of your bins inside and out.

3. Declutter the contents of your bins.

If you use a lot of plastic bins for long-term storage, it is easy to forget all about them for periods of time. Go through yours and make sure that everything you are storing still is necessary. If you do find items you no longer need, thrift them or sell them.

4. Fix or replace broken bins.

You may think broken bins can no longer serve any purpose, but there are actually ways you can repair cracks and holes. If you have damaged bins, plan to fix those you can this year, and replace those you cannot. Search our archives for how-to articles if you need guidance repairing your bins.

5. Donate bins you have no use for.

Sometime in the past, you may have purchased some bins without thinking about the sizes and number of bins you really needed, leaving you with some unwieldy containers you do not have any use for. This year, think about donating those bins to free up some space.

6. Purchase bins you need.

After you dispense with the bins you have no use for, you probably will have some storage gaps you need to fill. Look for storage containers for sale which will help you more efficiently corral your clutter and conserve space throughout your home. Our bins are designed to save space while providing you with the ultimate flexible storage solution.
