Tired of looking at that pile of clutter that used to be your desk, your bedroom or your living room? Ashamed every time you invite a guest over to your house? Tired of searching all over your workshop for your tools instead of working on your projects? Then it’s time for home organization 101. If you feel overwhelmed by clutter and don’t have a clue how to get started organizing your life, here are some steps you can take!

1. Don’t put it off.
Do something, anything, to get started, even if it’s something as simple as a wipe-down of your floor or taking out excess trash which you can identify on sight. Try to take care of these basic things that require minimal time or thought. Get yourself out of the procrastinating mindset.

2. Start clearing out things you don’t need.
If you have a lot of stuff you don’t need, instead of trying to store it all neatly, consider getting rid of it. Give it to charity. There is somebody out there who does need it and will be grateful to have it. Most towns have a thrift shop or two, and there is probably one within a 10-minute drive of you. You will feel relieved to take a load off.
