If you are living in a pigsty, you know how hard it is to get organized and stay that way. There are really three parts to keeping your household in order: cleaning, decluttering, and organizing what’s left. Decluttering can be one of the most challenging steps and it can be hard to find the motivation to do it. But there are a lot of good reasons to declutter your home. When you clean, declutter, and get your house organized, you can enjoy the following benefits.
• Save time by finding what you need right away. Wouldn’t you love to find whatever you’re looking for without having to dig through piles of random stuff on your cabinets, in your closet, and strewn across the floor?
• Save time cleaning. It is much easier to clean a decluttered house than one which is a mess. You won’t have to pick up and move as many things to clean under or around them.
• Stop buying stuff you don’t need. One of the worst things about being disorganized is not knowing whether you have a supply or ingredient or not. You might end up buying duplicate items simply because it is easier than finding what you have misplaced. This only increases your clutter, since you then have a lot more stuff than you are using. When you do locate the duplicate items, you won’t know what to do with them.
• Feel better when guests visit your home. Few things are worse than the shame of knowing your house is messy when you have visitors over! Feel proud of your clutter-free home instead. Look forward to telling your friends and family members how you got so organized.
• Enjoy a clear, relaxed frame of mind. When you have an organized home life and everything is in its right place, it is much easier to get comfortable in your house. When you come home from work battling stress, your clean, clutter-free, beautiful home will immediately relax you and make you feel safe and cozy. If you have work to do at home, you will not be distracted by the chaos around you. Instead, you will feel inspired by the order you have created.
What do you need in order to declutter your home? You will need a plan of attack and a schedule, or you will have a hard time getting started. This should include a list of areas you need to declutter as well as a timeline for getting it done and keeping it done. Decluttering is an ongoing chore, but once you get the upper hand over your mess, you will find it a lot easier. Be sure to stock up on plastic storage bins early on in the process so that you have supplies ready when it comes time to reorganize. After you get rid of everything you don’t need, you will need to find a home for everything you do want to keep!
