Thinking of looking for moving totes for sale instead of going with regular cardboard boxes? It is a decision which could pay off in more ways than one. The best plastic containers for moving offer you unparalleled convenience and versatility—and they could actually save you money.

This may come as a surprise considering that you can get cardboard boxes for free. You have to pay for plastic bins (although you will discover that they are usually quite reasonably priced, especially if you go through an online wholesaler). But the value of plastic bins extends further than that of cardboard boxes, which is why cardboard boxes are free and plastic containers are not. Here are a few ways in which plastic bins could save you money during your next move.

1. Plastic bins can be used again in future moves.

Hopefully after your next move, you will be located in a great place and you will be able to stay there for a while. But in a lot of cases, one move can be quickly followed by another. You may not like the neighborhood or the space you are renting—or you could end up getting a job across town. If you are in the military, relocating every few years may just be part of your life.

Plastic bins can be used time and again for future moves. Could you go out and get more cardboard boxes? Sure, but doing so is time-consuming, and time is money. With your plastic containers, you will be all ready to go.

2. With plastic bins for moving, you can provide your possessions with more protection.

Nothing is more upsetting than arriving at your new location only to discover that your cardboard moving boxes have been subjected to moisture or dirt, or have busted open in some way, damaging the contents within.

You have to spend money to replace all those damaged items—and some items are irreplaceable. With plastic bins, your items are far more likely to arrive at their destination intact. That means that you will not have to burn through cash replacing them.

3. After you finish moving, you can repurpose plastic bins for storage and other applications.

Once you arrive at your next location, you will need storage solutions, furnishings and more. In some cases, you may not have all of that ready, which leaves you needing to go to the store to buy these items. You could spend hundreds of dollars on these supplies—or you could just repurpose your plastic moving boxes. This is an especially smart decision if you are going to be packing up and moving again in a year or less.

So all told, opting to use plastic bins instead of cardboard boxes—at least for some of the items you want to move—could end up saving you hundreds of dollars in expenses the next time you relocate. That is well worth the initial cash outlay.
