By varying materials throughout your shop, you can take advantage of the benefits conferred by different types of retail displays. At the same time, you want to aim for consistency in your overall approach, and also make the best possible use of each material. Wood baskets are great for sundries, while glass display cases are perfect for items which are perceived as valuable or modern. Your displays tell customer what your attitude is toward your own merchandise, which can in turn have an impact on how they view your wares.

Everything about how you set up shop communicates a message to your customer. A poorly designed sales floor will offer a low quality shopping experience and will drive the customer out the door. A well-designed sales floor on the other hand offers customers an intuitive experience and shows the customer that you value your wares as well as their business. Customers who see you take care of your items are likely to perceive more value in those items and to want to acquire that value. Take note of your sales figures when you make changes and see how different product displays impact your numbers. Experiment and figure out what brings in the best revenue!
