Do you have a set of recycling and trash bins sitting out in your yard or next to your driveway? They may be convenient, but there is no denying that they are an eyesore. If you are looking for a creative way to help them blend in with the scenery, there are plenty of ideas to hide wheelie bins, recycling bins and trash bins. Here are a few to consider.

• Learn how to build a fence around garbage cans. One common way to conceal recycling and trash bins is simply to construct a fence around them with a gate which you can open and close as needed. They may still be visible behind the fencing, but they will certainly attract less attention than they do just sitting out in your driveway.

• Use a simple lattice garbage can enclosure. This makes for an easy garbage can privacy screen. You can buy one of these pre-made, or you can construct one yourself from basic materials. Like a fence, lattice has the advantage of being ventilated, which may be helpful for dispersing odors. You might even be able to grow some vines through your latticework to further disguise its true purpose.

• Construct a wood enclosure around them and add a planter on top. If you feel up to doing some woodworking, you can craft a complete wood enclosure for your recycling bins. This can completely hide your bins from view, and you can customize the enclosure so that it fits with your aesthetic vision for your yard. If you want to beautify the enclosure even more, you can install a planter on top and fill it with fragrant flowers. This will also help counteract any odors from your trash. You may way want to skip the planter however in the name of convenience since it helps to be able to access the bins from the top (not just the side). It is up to you to decide what is most important to you.

• Make a bin out of upcycled pallets. If you are interested in woodworking, but want to do something a little easier, consider using old wood pallets. You can pick them up for free in some locations. They are perfect for beginning woodworking projects since they are easy to adapt to a multitude of purposes—including hiding trash cans and recycling bins.

• Use plants to hide garbage cans and recycling bins. One more idea for concealing your bins is simply to forego any sort of fencing, lattice or woodwork, and use greenery. Just add some tall plants or hedges around your bins to screen them off from view, and leave a path so you can wheel or carry them in and out.

You now have a number of great ideas for hiding your recycling plastic bins as well as your trash cans in your driveway, yard or garden. Once you have them out of view, it can transform the whole look of your home!
