Looking for retail display racks for sale, but not sure what to buy? Whether you are new to merchandising, or you have been at it for a while but have never been quite happy with your shop’s retail display fixtures and cases, it is a good idea to familiarize yourself with the different types of retail display racks. In this article I will introduce you to the basic types of retail display equipment which you can use on your store walls.

• Slatwall: Slatwall is constructed out of medium-density fiberboard and is used to line the walls of your shop. Slatwall is immediately recognizable from its horizontal grooves; the finish typically looks like painted wood. This makes for a clean, friendly appearance which typically works great with any retail environment. Accessories may include shelves, hooks and wire baskets. Slatwall offers you ultimate flexibility since you can arrange accessories and merchandise in any manner you choose. This also makes slatwell panels and accessories an efficient and space-saving solution.

• Gridwall: A gridwall retail display also offers you amazing flexibility. This type of retail rack also covers your store wall, and is made of crisscrossing metal wires. Using hooks, baskets, and shelves, you can hang and display your merchandise in any configuration that you choose. Gridwall is easy to keep clean and may provide for a more modern look than slatwall or other types of displays. The cold metallic look is somewhat industrial, however, and may not be ideal for every shop.

• Mounted racks. One more idea for retail wall display systems is to mount clothing racks directly on your walls. You can also install shelving directly on your walls. This is a less flexible solution since once you have it set up, it is pretty hard to take down and adjust for a different configuration. But it can provide for a nice, neat appearance. If you don’t like the look of gridwall or slatwall displays, it is a good alternative.

• Signage: While we are talking about wall displays, it is important to remember to signage. Hanging signs can be affixed to your walls directly or hung from the ceiling to promote discounts and specials throughout your shop. The right signage can attract customers to a retail display they might otherwise miss along one of your walls. Investing a little extra to buy beautiful signage can really make a difference over putting up impromptu handwritten notices!

As you can see, while there are only a few different types of popular retail display fixtures for walls, the solutions which are out there are versatile and can be adjusted to a configuration of your liking.
