It’s summertime, and that is the perfect time of the year to work on your backyard shed projects! Whether you are using your shed right now for storage or you have let it become run-down and neglected, there are many exciting ways you can transform your shed into a livable and workable space. Here are a few garden shed projects to think about:

1. Organize your garden shed. If you do make ample use of your shed right now, then it is serving its purpose! But is it serving it well? This is the best time of year to pull everything out, get rid of stuff you don’t need, and then put the rest back with a better organization system. You can free up more space to store more supplies and work on your DIY projects.

2. Build a she shed. Look up she shed ideas online and you will find a ton of really exciting and beautiful ideas to create a female sanctuary! She sheds are a huge trend right now. You will be the envy of the neighborhood if you are the first on your street to have one!

3. Create a craft shed. While you are looking up she shed ideas, you will also stumble across craft shed ideas and plans. Craft sheds overlap with she sheds, though she sheds may serve other purposes, like entertaining guests. The craft shed is a variation on the basic tool shed, but it is designed for sewing, jewelry-making, scrapbooking, and other types of projects.

4. Convert a shed into a guest house. If you always wanted a guest house, you may be closer than you think. If your garden shed is large enough, you can refurbish it, install power and water, and have a functional guest house which is both comfortable and charming!

5. Convert a garden shed to an office. A backyard home office is another fun idea if you are willing to install electricity. A home office out back is quiet and removed from the bustle of the home, perfect for the parent who works weekends and needs some privacy. It is also a great choice for writers, graphic designers, or other creative hobbyists or professionals who wants some peace and quiet so they can focus on their work.

6. Create a backyard sunroom. Don’t have a sunroom and don’t want to put an addition onto your house, but wish you had one? One easier way to do it is to build a sunroom shed out back. It is just a matter of putting in plenty of windows to let the sun come in! This is a great option if you want houseplants in your shed. Essentially, it can also serve as a greenhouse.

Those are just a few ideas for DIY projects for your garden shed this year. Some of these projects are quite extensive and may take you months to complete, especially if you decide to really get into it. If you do, though, you will love your new guest house, office, craft shed, sunroom, or she shed!
