As you know, plastic storage containers for home and office use are our specialty. We talk a lot about the myriad ways you can use plastic storage boxes, but one subject we haven’t discussed a lot is cubbies. Bins and cubbies go together like peas in a pod! There are so many ways you can use bins in cubbies around your house. Furniture which includes cubbies for storage takes many forms. While you don’t have to use bins in the cubbies, it certainly is the optimal way to keep everything neat and tidy.

• Craft and workshop cubbies. If you have a craft room or workshop and dozens of different types of supplies that love to clutter up your shelves, consider replacing your standard shelves with cubbyhole shelves. You can then put plastic containers for craft storage inside of each. You won’t believe how neat your workshop looks.

• In the bathroom. Pull the long drawers out of your bathroom cabinets and instead place cubbies inside to hold toilet paper, cleaning supplies, and more. It makes for easier access, and you can even decorate the bins to brighten up the bathroom and add a splash of color.

• Under the coffee table or media table. Oftentimes, tables like these include a space below which you can use for storage. Several decorated bins placed side by side make great use of this space without creating clutter. This is a great way to store magazines, newspapers, and other stuff that tends to get in the way. Without bins to keep these items in place, they can make a real mess.

• In the entryway. Nowhere are plastic bins in cubbies more helpful than the mudroom or entry hall! You can buy multipurpose furniture that functions as a hall bench, coat hangar, and cubby storage unit. The bins are perfect for shoes, outdoor equipment, scarves, hats, and more.

• Under the bed. Beds with cubby bin storage are all the rage! These days we are seeing a lot of homespun designs for furniture made out of recycled pallet boxes. The cubby storage unit underneath is ideal for extra blankets, clothing, socks, books, and anything else you might want handy. Don’t have a cubby storage area under your bed? You can always by a cubby storage bench to put at the end of your bed.

• Freestanding bins in cubbies. You can purchase freestanding cubbies for bins as well, and stack them up on top of each other in any fashion you choose. This makes for a very cool modern look in most cases.

Those are just a few ideas for ways and places you can use bins in cubby storage around your household. This is a very flexible storage solution, one you can easily customize to your needs. Bins in cubbies are useful, and if you decorate them, they can be nice to look at too. Best of all, they conceal your clutter, and help you keep your home looking neat and clean at all times!
